Anyone can enjoy the benefits of counselling.

Some people find counselling useful in times of crisis, where learning and building awareness of self creates a deeper understanding of oneself and offers new ways of being in the world with better coping strategies to overcome challenges.

However, you don’t need to be in crisis or have a diagnosed mental illness to have counselling. Counselling can also be used to make a good life better, to set new goals and establish healthy, fulfilling relationships. It is naturally inherent in every human being to want to fulfil our potential and live a meaningful life. This is where counselling can help you explore and discover your authentic self and any blocks that might unconsciously be in your way.

Counselling can also be an explorative space, where you can bring anything that might feel confusing such as repeating patterns in your life, self, relationships and work. It can be a space where opposing and conflicting parts of you are welcomed and the core of you is strengthened. Counselling here allows you to discover a stronger sense of self and ways of being in the world and life, where you feel aligned with your values, confident and inspired.

Individual counselling allows you to learn about yourself and this has an expansive effect on how you relate to others, allowing you to build more fulfilling relationships. We are by nature social creatures, and we learn about ourselves through being in relationships with others. Counselling is an opportunity where you, through being in a safe space and supported by the therapist, can explore how you would like to be with others and how others affect you.

Counselling can be short, mid or long-term. You may wish to work on a specific issue or a goal, in which case you may wish to have a set amount of counselling sessions. You might also wish to use short-term counselling to have support for a specific challenging event in your life. Short-term counselling can have a great impact on the whole of you even when you focus on one area or issue. You will always be provided with an opportunity to review your progress and process and decide if more sessions are useful to you or if you feel aware and empowered enough to end your counselling.

Longer-term counselling can be used to gain an ongoing and deeper awareness of yourself, where instead of focusing on one specific one issue, area or goal, you are able to gain deeper continuous knowledge about who you are and discover unconscious mindsets and blocks that can direct your behaviours and choices. This is where counselling long-term allows you an opportunity to set new goals and test them. This powerful and empowering knowledge of yourself can help you transform your limitations and free your best self, even in ever-changing life circumstances.

It can be difficult to decide what therapist or mode of counselling to choose! You may wish to explore and arrange a few initial sessions with different therapists to see what kind of counselling or therapist you are drawn to and feel safe with. I offer a free-of-charge initial session, where you can ask me any questions that you might have and where we can discuss how I will work with you and what you would like to bring to the sessions. This is a commitment-free session to allow you to obtain any information that you need from me. You are welcome to contact me via email or a phone call to arrange a meeting or to ask me any further.
